“CATCH THE CHINA WAVE 2007 ”
On February 22, 2007, Aaron Schechter was the event leader/organizer and served as the moderator for “Catch the China Wave 2007 – Get the Inside Story on Doing Business with China” at the Jonathan Club in downtown Los Angeles. The event was co-hosted by both the UC Berkeley-Haas Alumni Network-Los Angeles Chapter and the USC Marshall School of Business Alumni Association - Los Angeles Chapter. Aaron is an alumni of both the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business and the USC Marshall School of Business, as well as a Board Member of the Berkeley/Haas Alumni Network - Los Angeles Chapter. Catch the China Wave 2007 was a follow up event to the successful Catch the China Wave 2006 event.
The panelists for Catch the China Wave 2007 included Anne-Marie Boysen, Vice President of International, Lionsgate; Dr. Yongheng Deng, USC Marshall School of Business; Joy Kovaleski, Founder/President of Fun Zone, Inc.; Jack Sheng, Co-Founder/CEO of internet retailer Eforcity, Corp.; James Hsu, Partner, Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal, LLP. The sponsors for the event included HSBC, BDO Seidman and GMAC Commercial Finance. Partnering organizations included the Asia Society Southern California, Hong Kong Association Southern California, Asia-Pacific-USA Chamber of Commerce and the North American Representative Office of Shenzhen, PRC.
Over 200 people attended the event. The panelists shared their experiences as well as the opportunities and challenges in doing business with China. Industries included film/entertainment, real estate, sourcing, product development, e-commerce and legal issues. Even after the seminar was completed, the attendees remained long after to have further discussions with the panelists.
